SAA President's Message

In January of this year, by the kind recommendation of Professor Toemsakdi, Chulalongkorn University Board appointed me an honorary member of the Sasin Steering Committee. In April, I became the President of the SAA by the supports of many alumni friends. I am humbled and truly honored to be entrusted to hold two of the most prestigious positions at our beloved institution at the same time. I feel very fortunate because Sasin and SAA are part of the same great name.

Obviously, one of the most important goals of the SAA is to strengthen the bonds between Sasin and her alumni, and among the alumni themselves. Another is to organize regular update of new management knowledge for our alumni, and to organize economic seminars to enhance public awareness of our collective opinion, thus pushing Sasin’s name to the forefront of the business community. Work in progress is also the career counseling service to facilitate the matching of many businesses’ demand for our quality graduates.

I wish to report on the most exciting development happening at Sasin. Before being elected president, and through the Sasin Steering Committee, I have volunteered to oversee the renovation of Sasa International House. We are transforming all the rooms to level comparable to a nice boutique hotel. Now as SAA president, I am also seizing this opportunity to ask Professor Toemsakdi’s permission to utilize all available space for our alumni’s activities. The grand plan is to set up “Sasin Club” where Sasanives is the gathering place for all alumni and current students. The lobby is being expanded, re-decorated and air-conditioned. Sasa cuisine

will have a new interior, and a new themed restaurant is being planned complete with coffee and ice cream bar. Various game rooms, reading room, exercise room, shower rooms and modern offices with wi-fi are being built to serve all alumni. A new parking area for at least 40 cars is also in the plan. All the work will be done before November this year. We will soon have a place right in the center of the city to come any time to relax, meet old friends and strengthen the ties that bind us to Sasin.

I want to thank many close friends who have encouraged me to take up the challenge. I also want to express my sincere appreciation to more than 40 capable Sasin alumni who have volunteered to work in the SAA Committee. We are forming self directed teams to manage academic affairs, network and relations, and Sasin Club. Soon we will come out to present all kinds of activities that will cover the interest of everyone. My mission is to bring everyone back to Sasin to enjoy the spirit and valuable connection we have shared over the years. Exciting time awaits us indeed. We are also gathering ideas and suggestions from everyone. Please feel free to email all ideas and suggestions to Chalermchai.Wongwaiwit@sasin.edu .

Professor Toemsakdi always says that education at Sasin is a continuous lifetime experience, and he is right. Sasin has enabled many of us to become successful both in the business world and in life. Once we enter and graduate from Sasin, we have become one of her shareholders forever. Her success and reputation are now an integral part of our success and reputation, and vice versa. All of us have proudly worn the Sasin badge for the past many years. Let’s all come to make Sasin even better and cherish in all of her success together.

Cheers!
