Q1: What is the Executive MBA program?
A1: The Executive MBA program is a two-year general management degree program. It was specially designed for mid-career executives who want to get themselves ready for senior management positions, or for senior executives or entrepreneurs who wish to increase and improve their management skills and perform more effectively.

Q2: How does the Executive MBA program differ from Sasin's full-time MBA program?
A2: On average, EMBA students are about ten years older than our full-time MBAs. They are therefore about that much farther along in their careers. While the required courses are essentially identical to those in the full-time program and are usually taught by the same faculty members, all coursework has been adapted by the faculty to take full advantage of the additional experience brought to the EMBA classroom. The regular EMBA classes require less contact hours than the MBAs.

Q3: Can a student concentrate in one specific area, e.g. marketing or finance?
A3: No. The EMBA is a program for developing general management skills needed by persons aspiring to enter the senior management level of their organization. It does not aim to be an in-depth study in any specific functional area. Usually EMBA participants already have an area of expertise, and are looking to broaden their skills and gain a fuller perspective.

Q4: How long does it take to complete the program?
A4: The EMBA program covers two years with no classes during the summer months. Each academic year comprises 6 modules of five weeks each followed by the summer break. EMBA students take two courses each module over this two-year program.

Q5: What time do classes meet?
A5: Classes are normally scheduled Wednesday 6.00-9.30 p.m. and Saturday 8.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. Occasionally make-up classes may be held at other times.

Q6: What percentage of coursework is assigned to groups versus individuals?
A6: Assignments are determined by professors and vary widely from class to class. Over the course of the two-year program, you may expect the breakdown to be roughly 50-50.

top

Q7: How much additional time does a student need to spend on study outside of class each week?
A7: Students generally meet in study groups once or twice a week to work on group assignments. For quantitative courses, optional tutorials or review sessions provided by the instructor or by other students are offered on weekday evenings.

Q8: I don't have a strong math background. Would I have difficulty with the EMBA curriculum?
A8: A number of required courses assume basic math literacy. If you took your last math class a while ago, it is probably worthwhile brushing up before coming to the program. If you never took math to the basic calculus level, it is strongly recommended that you do self-study on a course like "Math for Business".

Q9: What is the grading policy?
A9: Student performance is evaluated as pass/fail (P/F). The highest possible grade is HP (High Pass). A student must pass 24 courses in order to earn the Executive MBA degree.

Q10: What does the program cost?
A10: The 2007 EMBA program costs Baht 1,202,100. This amount covers tuition for two years, course materials, fees for student activities, university IT services, graduation, management communication workshop, travel, meals and refreshments.
