Q1: What kinds of Business English courses does Sasin offer?
A1: We have English Language courses for people whose English proficiency and fluency still needs development. (Levels 1-4) We have Applied English Communication courses for people at the advanced level who need practice using strategy and planning to create and deliver their English messages: for reporting, presenting, negotiating, persuading. (Levels 3-4)

Q2: What is taught in the English Language courses?
A2: Many of the courses focus on one skill at a time so you can concentrate on developing proficiency in any area that may have been underdeveloped when you were a student—or forgotten for lack of practice since then. These courses are the building blocks for your language development: Refined Pronunciation, Precision Listening, Speaking at Work, Accurate Grammar Structure, Business Emails and Memos, Effective Business Correspondence.
After your basic skills are strong, other courses will help you practice integrating them to improve your overall fluency: Applied Reading and Writing; Speaking, Listening, Reading Level 1-4.

Q3: Can I choose whatever course I like?
A3: You can choose whatever course you like at or below your level of proficiency. If you are at Level 3, you can choose any Level 1, 2, and 3 courses but not Level 4 courses. We do our best to make sure that students at similar levels study together.

Q4: My friends and I want to study together but we tested at different levels. What can we do?
A4: Who has the lowest level? You can choose any course at or below your own level. How many friends do you have? We can open a special course if 12-14 people sign up for it.

Q5: How can you determine my proficiency in English?
A5: All applicants are required to take the ELLIS placement test at Sasin prior to registration. The test administration fee is 350 baht and requires about an hour of your time. You can call up to make an appointment to take the test. You may also submit recent scores from any of these tests instead: TOEFL, TOEIC, IELTS, BULATS, CU-TEP.

Q6: Will I receive a certificate at the end of the course?
A6: In accordance with Chulalongkorn University regulations, students who achieve 80% attendance will receive an attendance certificate co-signed by the President of Chulalongkorn University and the Director of Sasin Graduate Institute of Business Administration. The 80% requirement is strictly observed.

Q7: Will I receive a certificate if I miss class time because of company business?
A7: You will not receive a certificate if you do not meet the 80% requirement even if you were unable to attend because of the requirements of your job.

Q8: Are all courses taught by native speakers of English?
A8: Yes, except for the pronunciation, listening and presentation courses which are taught by a highly qualified Thai instructors.

Q9: How many students are there in a class?
A9: Maximum class size is 18 but the Refined Pronunciation, and Professional Presentation courses are limited to 15. Writing courses tend to be smaller.

Q10: Do I have to pass a final test at the end of the course in order to continue on to the next level?
A10: It is not easy to jump from one level to the next. You should expect to take two or three courses at your entry level before moving up. Your instructor will evaluate your readiness to move up at the end of each course. You can also retake the Ellis placement test to determine your current level.
