Thailand's Global New Venture Plan Competition
Grand Prize Winner and Recipient of HM The King’s Award: IMMUTELL, Aarhus School of Business, Denmark
The mai Bangkok Business Challenge®@Sasin 2008 has attained an even higher level by becoming Thailand’s Global New Venture Plan Competition.
Despite several existing new-venture business plan competitions around the globe, the prominence of The mai Bangkok Business Challenge® @Sasin 2008 was confirmed by the participation of a staggering 45 teams from 17 countries, representing five continents, in the competition’s Qualifying Round, all teams vying for the generous HM The King’s Award.
The top 16 teams, from 12 countries, then traveled to Thailand and presented their business plans to prestigious panels of internationally experienced judges at Sasin in Bangkok.
After three days of tough competition from 28 February through 1 March, IMMUTELL—whose business plan was based on its patented Cell-Mediated Immune Response diagnostics for the identification of hard-to-diagnose diseases—was judged as having the most viable plan among an exceptionally strong field and declared the Grand Prize winner.
Congratulations go out as well to 1st Runner-up PhotonWave Technologies (IndianSchool of Business, Hyderabad, India), and to the competition’s four Finalists: Guvera (QueenslandUniversity of Technology, Australia); HerbleMed (Chiang Mai University, Thailand); SiamHeat Services (Thammasat University, Thailand); and Videntifier (Reykjavik University, Iceland).
New this year was The New Venture Showcase @Sasin, in which leading venture capitalists and investors were invited to consider the investment opportunities presented by the teams through their venture exhibits and to personally interact with team members, the established entrepreneurs seeking further information while also offering invaluable advice.
