The first year curriculum - developed in conjunction with Kellogg - emphasizes development of general management skills and provides the general foundation for the MBA program. The focus is on core courses that build a solid foundation in the functional areas of business in order to prepare students for more advanced study at the elective level during the second year.
First Year Structure:
Sasin's MBA Program is taught in six five-week modules per year during which students usually take two courses per module, though students may take three courses per module assuming there are no course time conflicts. For module dates see Key Dates.
Students must complete 11 core courses and two electives during their first year to advance to second-year status. In exceptional cases, qualified students may receive a waiver for one or more core courses. Any waiver enquiries should be directed to the Admissions and Registration Office.
The core courses in economics, financial accounting, quantitative methods, business strategy, marketing, finance, organizational structure and operations management prepare students to think critically about business issues in subsequent elective courses.
Students also have the opportunity to take two elective courses and consider Sasin’s International Programs for options on doing one semester/quarter overseas.
