Doing business in the Mekong region: Sasin engages leaders from Laos and Japan

Between August 9-16, 2021, Professor Takamasa Fujioka, Director of Sasin Japan Center (SJC), gave a series of online lectures titled, “Global Management: Doing Business in Mekong Region”, for 35 Lao government officials and senior executives. The lecture series was co-organized by the Laos-Japan Human Resource Development Institute (LJI) and SJC. Professor Fujioka’s lectures were designed to equip executives with a comprehensive framework to formulate strategies in a global setting. The course covered foreign direct investment, global value chains, competitive strategies, various modes of market entry, and corporate social responsibility to analyze international business information and to design sustainable competitive, global strategies. On the second last day of the series, Professor Fujioka organized a social gathering session between Laotian and Japanese MBA graduates and students from various business schools including Sasin, Waseda, Meiji and NUCB. The students exchanged ideas about future collaboration between the two countries.
