Sasin’s COVID-Safe Plan

02 Jul 2020
What will a return to face-to-face classes look like? Our management and staff have been working hard for the past few months to develop Sasin’s COVID-Safe Plan, a series of measures to ensure the health and safety of everyone who comes to Sasin. COVID‐19 will be with us for some time, so it’s important that we continue to plan and act to keep our school healthy, safe, and virus-free. For the foreseeable future, we must all adhere to all of the following health and safety measures: Arriving at Sasin
  • Temperature Scans: you must wear a mask and have your temperature checked every time you enter the building. This applies to both the Sasa Patasala building and Sasa House.
  • Check-in/Check-out via the Thai Chana (ไทย ชนะ) app: you must use the Thai Chana check-in/check-out app every time you enter and leave the premises.
  • Wearing masks in all common areas: you must wear a mask at all times when you’re in common areas.
Physical distancing
  • All students, faculty, and staff must maintain a physical distance of 1-2 meters (6 feet) from one another at all times while at Sasin.
  • Staff workstations have been adjusted, as necessary, to allow physical distancing. If you believe that additional adjustment is necessary, please contact our Student Services team or our HR team.
  • Plastic partitions are used in classrooms and breakout rooms to increase safety.
  • Directional signs have been placed on all floors to help you maintain physical distancing in aisles, hallways, corridors, and elevators.
  • Distancing marks have been placed in all locations where interaction between staff and students is necessary (e.g. in the Canteen and in the IT and Finance offices).
Please be sure to respect the distancing marks to maintain safety for all. Cleaning and disinfection of shared areas/surfaces
  • We’re taking every precaution to prevent the transmission of COVID-19 by ensuring that high-traffic surfaces and those frequently touched are disinfected on a regular basis. Cleaning products remove visible soil and/or dirt from surfaces, and our disinfecting products destroy bacteria and viruses.
  • The entire Sasa Patasala building and Sasa House underwent a deep cleaning. And day-to-day disinfection continues with two of the latest technologies:
    • – UVC Air Sanitizers in each of the Air Handling Units (AHU) have been installed throughout Sasin. These far-UVC light (222 nm) Air Sanitizers (see image below left) have been tested and there is research showing that they efficiently and safely inactivate airborne human coronaviruses.
    • – Ozone cleaning using Ozone Generators is being used to get rid of odors, bacteria, and viruses in all classrooms and offices (see image below right).
Hand washing/sanitizer stations Good hygiene is an essential and effective way to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Take these measures to protect yourself and those around you:
  • wash your hands often (in addition to routine times such as after using the washroom, before eating and when handling food for the public);
  • cough/sneeze into your elbow or tissue and throw away;
  • avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth;
  • use alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap and water are not readily available.
Requirements for self-isolation
  • All students, faculty, and staff must self-monitor for symptoms and report to their supervisor (or for students to Student Services) if they have concerns about possible COVID-19 exposure or possible symptoms.
  • Anyone developing symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, cough, etc.) at work must take immediate precautions, report to their manager, avoid contact with other employees, and leave Sasin as soon as it is safe to do so.
Stay home if you’re sick
  • Anyone with any flu-like symptoms must self-isolate until tested for COVID-19 and then follow the guidance of public health professionals. If your test results are negative for COVID-19 but you remain ill and/or symptomatic, you should remain on sick leave and follow the guidance of public health professionals.
  • COVID-19 symptoms include:
    • – cough;
    • – fever and/or chills;
    • – difficulty breathing;
    • – loss of taste or smell.
Thank you for your cooperation and your patience. Everyone at Sasin looks forward to welcoming you back in a safe and responsible way.
