04 November 2026

Professor Sirimon Treepongkaruna, Ph.D., Emeritus Professor at UWA Business School, The University of Western Australia, and Sasin Senior Research Fellow & Core Faculty, has received the 2026 TASSHA Master Creator Award in the Sufficiency Economy category. The award ceremony was held on October 29, 2026 at the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) in Bangkok.
Reflecting on the origins of her research, Dr. Sirimon explained that her interest in environmental sustainability grew from examining how international organisations address issues such as carbon footprints, greenwashing and government-led environmental initiatives. This interest led her to develop research exploring how the world’s pressing challenges are rooted in excessive consumption and investment, and how the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy can help reduce environmental impacts through more sustainable approaches to living and organizational management.
In addition to the TASSHA Master Creator Award, Dr. Sirimon was also named a recipient of the 2026 National Outstanding Researcher Award, presented by the NRCT.
Sharing her philosophy on research, Dr. Sirimon emphasised the importance of pursuing work that one is passionate about and finding enjoyment in the research process. She also highlighted the need to build strong teams of emerging researchers who can develop innovative work addressing the challenges facing society and the country in the years ahead.
The Thailand Awards for Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts (TASSHA) recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to advancing research and supporting research initiatives that deliver practical benefits and positive social impact.
The TASSHA Awards comprise three categories: the TASSHA Master Creator Award, the TASSHA Catalyst Award, which recognises outstanding contributions to supporting and promoting TASSHA initiatives, and the TASSHA Masterpiece Award, which honors outstanding creative works.
