The 7th JETRO–SJC Seminar Examines Structural Changes in Thailand’s Logistics Industry and Supply Chain Redesign

On June 17, 2026, the Sasin Management Consulting Japan Center (SJC), in collaboration with the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO Bangkok Office), successfully hosted the 7th JETRO–SJC Seminar, “Structural Changes in Thailand’s Logistics Industry and Supply Chain Redesign,” at Sasin School of Management.
Approximately 100 representatives from Japanese companies operating in Thailand—including Marubeni, Mitsubishi Electric Asia, TRI PETCH ISUZU SALES, MOL Logistics, U.D. Asia, Mizuho Bank, Thai Yamazaki, Nippon Steel, Yokohama City, Saha Pathana, Baker McKenzie, and Hokuriku Bank—attended the seminar to explore the latest developments in logistics, supply chain management, and sustainable business growth.
The seminar opened with welcoming remarks by Ms. Makiko Yamazaki, Vice President of JETRO Bangkok Office, followed by a keynote address by Professor Dr. Takamasa Fujioka, Advisor of the Sasin Japan Center and Professor at Meiji University, on “Structural Changes and Value Co-Creation in Thailand’s Logistics Industry.” He highlighted the evolving role of logistics as a strategic function that enhances competitiveness and creates value across regional supply chains.
The program featured presentations from leading experts:
- Mr. Akanit Smatipanich, Chairman of the Purchasing and SCM Association of Thailand, discussed purchasing decision-making processes and the importance of strategic procurement.
- Mr. Mitsuhiro Kitamura, Manager at ABeam Consulting (Thailand), shared insights on building resilient and sustainable logistics operations.
- Mr. Tomohiro Okada, APAC Regional Director of APT and a Sasin MBA alumnus, introduced “Team Japan Initiatives in the Logistics Sector,” highlighting collaborative efforts among Japanese logistics-related companies to create shared value and strengthen Thailand’s logistics ecosystem.
- Mr. Jo Murata, Representative of NEDO Bangkok Office, presented initiatives supporting decarbonization, energy transition, and the deployment of Japanese technologies in Thailand.
- Mr. Hiroaki Nagasaki, Chief Officer of JETRO Bangkok Office, concluded the seminar with an overview of support programs available to Japanese manufacturers in Thailand.
